Description
This degree course trains nurses to treat people of all ages, in families, groups and communities, both the healthy and the sick, in all contexts, and to work in public health, care services for the sick, those with limited mobility and the dying. The main functions of nursing are administering treatment, management and assessment of results, defending the rights of those served, promotion of a safe environment, research and participation in health policy, health education and professional training.

Timetable
Morning. Some afternoon sessions for laboratory practicals and optional subjects, if taken. Internships may following morning or afternoon timetables.

First year: 4,270 €. Each credit: 69.91€.

Competences
The core competences of nursing graduates are provising of care, management and assessment of results, defence of the rights of the individual, promotion of a safe environment, research, participation in health policy, health education and professional training.
Specialist subjects strengthen competencesin providing care for individuals and families in complex situations arising form chronic illness, facilitating empowerment and self-treatment, crisis management and providing community, social and health services.

UVic has specialised laboratories for each course with learning technology for case simulations, techniques, procedures and practicals.
