The University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia offers an International Week on Sport, Media and Marketing in Barcelona. The aim of this programme is to provide students with an understanding of Sport, Media and Marketing in different Catalan clubs and teams by developing certain activities in selected group of clubs. The programme combines lectures and visits to some mainstream sports and media organisations.

This programme is aimed at WU undergraduates students as well as UVic-UCC undergraduates and other local students interested in sports and sports management and media organisations.

Course program
Day 1: Arrival to El Prat Airport, in Barcelona (March 2)
Reception and accomodation - Erasmus Gracia.
Day 2: Historical Tour in Barcelona historical center (March 3)
One of Europe's top tourist destinations, Barcelona is a city with a special charm. It boasts a great history while at the same time being recognised as a cosmopolitan and modern city. Barcelona offers sea and mountain, tradition and cutting edge.
Day 3: Sport and the global entertainment business (March 4)
The most important synergies of the global sports media complex, stakeholders mapping and the basis for the international position of the sport entertainment multinationals.
SPECIAL EVENT: Tour of FC Barcelona Stadium and Museum. Including lunch in FC Barcelona Stadium.
Day 4: FC Barcelona as a global sports brand (March 5)
FC Barcelona, Barça, as a global entertainment multinational. FC Barcelona has been historical sport organization since 1899, but now the club is playing a new role in sport business markets and public diplomacy strategies.
Lunch in Barcelona Born neighborhood.
SPECIAL EVENT: Visit Picasso Museum. The Picasso museum is a key reference for understanding the formative years of Pablo Picasso. The genius of the young artist is revealed through the 4.251 works that make up the permanent collection.
Day 5: Public Relations in Sport (March 6)
Sports place branding: how countries and cities use sport as a public diplomacy action.
Sport CSR: Civic and Community Engagement.
SPECIAL EVENT: Tour of RCD Espanyol Stadium and Museum. Including lunch at RCD Espanyol fan zone.
Day 6: New consumption patterns in sport (March 7)
The heritage of Barcelona-92 and its comparison with London-12.
Fan Engagement in the Euroleague Basketball. Fans as consumers in professional sport.
SPECIAL EVENT: Visit Montjuic Olympic Museum
Day 7: Sports and Entrepreneur ship (March 8)
Mountaineering Everest: Entrepreneurship in Catalan sport context.
Television rights in the soccer industry: Ramon Robert, the ex CEO of RCD Espanyol will explain the most important ideas about sport commodification and commercialization within the media industry.
SPECIAL EVENT: Visit to Mediapro
Day 8: Free time and trip back to the US (March 9)
