UVic-UCC has been awarded two Erasmus+ grants by the European Commission

26.10.2015

The European Commission has awarded the University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia two Erasmus+ grants in the SPORT call: Support to Collaborative Partnerships. This brings to four the total number of current Erasmus+ grants we have.

The project “VOICE – Voices for truth and dignity: Combatting sexual violence in European sport through the voices of those affected” has been awarded €35,000. It is led by the Deutsche Sporthochschule Koeln and UVic-UCC is a partner along with the Consell Català de l’Esport (Catalan Sports Council). Our  main researcher in this project is Dr Montse Martín, of the Faculty of Education, Translation and Humanities.

The aim of the project is to gather data on gender violence in sport in Europe through reports from victims of sexual harassment and abuse. This testimony will be the startinf point for exchange of educational knowledge and tools for enhancing European sport as a community, combatting gender violence and building integrity in sport. A total of 12 organisations re taking part: universities, European and national sports bodies and support groups for victims and child protection.

The project “Riding Together – Solidarity on Horseback” has been awarded €41,000. This initiative is led by the Portuguese organisation "Todos al galope” and UVic-UCC is a partner along with four other organisations. Our UVic-UCC researchers Ramon Milà, Judit Rusiñol, Salvador Simó and Montse Romero, of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Welfare, will study the effect of equestrianism on health and social inclusion, on the basis of pilot programme case studies. The aim of the project is to promote social inclusion, equal opportunities, and equal access to sport through equestrianism.
