Nature excursions in Osona: "What do fossils tell us?"

We will be paleontologists for a day, visiting various rocky outcrops dating from the Eocene, where we will view and recognise the marine fossils there. We will identify them and find out about the conditions and sedimentary environments in which they lived. We will also discuss their heritage value and why we have to preserve them. There will be a geological tour around Gurb and a specific visit to the south of Osona.

*Participants should wear comfortable shoes for walking, and bring a magnifying glass and a notepad to take notes.

Consult the full "Discover natural systems 2018" programme. All activities are free of charge, but prior registration is required at info@museudelter.cat or by telephoning 93 851 51 76, giving the participant's name, surname(s) and national identity document number. The programme is jointly organised by the Mediterranean Rivers Studies Centre (CERM) of the UVic-UCC, the Ter Museum - Manlleu Town Council and the Osona Naturalist Group.
