Objectives

In order to learn about nursing as a discipline and at the same time acquire and develop specific professional skills, in the subject Practicum VII the student must:

  • Put into practice and develop nursing care techniques and procedures in simulated clinical situations (anatomical simulators and mannequins).
  • Acquire skills, abilities and aptitudes through practical training in a hospital center applying the knowledge, skills and attitudes learned in the different subjects.
  • Identify the sequence of priorities that must be established when providing nursing care to a person with health problems.
  • Reflect on the learning process.

Learning outcomes

  • RA1. It organizes personal work in accordance with process planning, adjusts it to decision-making in the intervention context and reorients processes in relation to the evaluation carried out on the performance itself.
  • LO2. Participates and integrates in the organized development of a team work and is able to anticipate tasks, time and resources to achieve the expected results.
  • LO3. It analyzes the data obtained in the assessment of the user to prioritize health problems and designs appropriate interventions or treatments for each situation that respect people's fundamental rights.
  • LO4. Identifies life-threatening situations and actions in front of intra- and extra-hospital emergencies and knows how to properly apply basic and advanced life support.
  • LO5. Communicates effectively with professionals, users and families with an attitude of respect and empathy, and demonstrates listening skills.
  • LO6. Act appropriately for your own safety and that of the user.
  • LO7. It uses the health products that correspond to the health problem, adapts the form of administration and evaluates its action and possible effects.

  • RA9. It designs interventions that meet the needs of the field in a multidisciplinary way.

  • Act professionally in accordance with the values of the profession stated in the nursing code of ethics.

  • Design and implement evaluation systems for health care, taking into account scientific, technical and relational aspects of quality.
  • Design outcome-oriented healthcare systems for individuals, families and groups. Assess their impact and establish appropriate changes through dialogue with care receivers and significant others in their context, and the use of appropriate tools and reflective practice.
  • Develop and implement strategies for easing and controlling symptoms that contribute to alleviating end-of-life situations of care receivers and significant others.
  • Establish an appropriate therapeutic relationship with care receivers and significant others in their context.
  • Interact with care receivers at each stage of their life cycle, in accordance with their gender, group or community, within their social and multicultural context, respecting their opinions, beliefs, values, privacy and confidentiality, and professional secrecy.
  • Promote and respect the right of participation, information, independence and informed consent in decision-making for care receivers, in accordance with the manner in which individuals experience health and illness.

Evaluation

The evaluation of this subject is carried out in accordance with the following activities and weighting criteria:

Evaluation of clinical skills workshops (compulsory attendance)

  • Observation of participation/simulation: 15% of the final mark of the subject; non recoverable
  • Specific assessment tests: 10% of the subject's final grade; non recoverable

Attendance and participation in these activities is 100% mandatory. In case of any justified absence, these absences cannot exceed 10% of the total. If this percentage is exceeded, the internship committee of the degree evaluates the situation individually.

Evaluation of external internships (see the Regulations on external internships)

  • Report of the tutors of the collaborating entity (TEC): 35% of the final mark of the subject; non recoverable This report must be approved with a minimum grade of 5.
  • Follow-up by the University's academic tutor (TAU): 10% of the subject's final grade; non recoverable
  • Student report: 5% of the subject's final grade; non recoverable
  • Work / internship report: 25% of the final grade of the subject; non recoverable

The final mark of the subject is the result of the weighting of the marks obtained in each of the parts, as long as the external practices are approved.

Methodology

  • Integration in professional practice of the knowledge, skills and attitudes of the nursing discipline. Professional practices in:
    • Hospital centers: general surgery units, traumatology, internal medicine, frail patient care, paediatrics, mental health, maternity, ICU, emergency, day hospitals and home hospitalization, hemodialysis, oncology, cardiology, etc.
    • Primary and community care centers: general nursing consultation, home care, pediatric consultation, PADES, etc.
    • Socio-sanitary and mental health centers: convalescence, long-stay, palliative care, psychogeriatric units, long-stay mental health units, drug addiction care, day hospitals, community care programs, UFISS, etc.
    • Other organizations in which the sick are present: mutual employers, geriatric homes, cooperation and NGOs
  • Nursing care plans in the most prevalent health problems, as well as in the different stages of the life cycle
  • Nursing care techniques, procedures and protocols
