The president of the Parliament of Catalonia, Anna Erra, gave a reception this afternoon to mark the tenth anniversary of the federation agreement between the Balmes University Foundation (FUBalmes) and the Bages University Foundation (FUBages), which led to the creation of the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC). This reception took place exactly ten years after the signing of the agreement in the Palace of the Parliament, on January 30 2014.

The delegation was made up of sixty people, led by the mayor of Vic and president of the FUBalmes, Albert Castells; the mayor of Manresa and president of the FUBages, Marc Aloy; and the rector of UVic-UCC, Josep Eladi Baños.

Apart from the venue and the date, the reception was heavily charged with symbolism because the event was also attended by some of the people who had organised, supported and formalized the signing of the federation agreement a decade ago: the former Secretary of Universities and Research, Antoni Castellà; the former rector of UVic-UCC, Jordi Montaña; the former mayor of Manresa, Valentí Junyent; and Joan Turró and Valentí Martínez, who were at that time the general managers of the FUBalmes and FUBages respectively, as well as various people from the two foundations who worked to make the agreement possible.

Also present were the current general managers of the FUBalmes, Jordi Baiget, and the FUBages, Antoni Llobet, as well as the director general of Universities, Victòria Girona; in addition to the University's Governing Board, various deans, and the presidents and general managers of the other two federated institutions at UVic-UCC, the Foundation for Advanced Health Sciences Studies (FESS) and Elisava, among other people from the University and from institutions and companies associated with it.
