UVic-UCC declaration, 1 October 2018

On a day such as this one, the university leadership team wish to declare:

• Our unconditional commitment to democratic principles, the only ones that can ensure respect for civil and political rights, together with self-government, freedom of expression and dialogue as a means for resolving political differences.
• Our support for Catalan schools and their inclusive principles.
• Our distress at the fact that activists and elected leaders are being held on remand or are in exile for allowing people to peacefully express their opinions.

We therefore invite all members of the community to join demonstrations at midday outside their workplaces. In Vic, the participants will gather at the entrance to Casa Convalescència and in the Miramarges courtyard. In Manresa, a demonstration will be held at the entrance to Building FUB-1.
