Chair in ICT and Health

The Chair in ICT and Health was created in December 2013 as a TicSalut Foundation and UVic-UCC initiative to provide a service and a reference point for research into ICTs, health and the social services system.

Mission

The mission of the Chair is to generate, disseminate and transfer knowledge on the use of ICTs in health and social services. The initial focus is on three core areas, which will be extended over time:
  • The use of ICT within the health and social services sector by identifying innovation and research projects.
  • The definition of a framework of professional skills in the area of ICTs and health.
  • The rational use of telemedicine to facilitate the implementation of a distance health care model.

Objectives

  • To collaborate with health and social services in the area around the UVic-UCC and at Catalan, Spanish and international level to promote research projects and initiatives and policies to improve the quality of health care, make the health and social services system more efficient, and establish a new model of relationship between the public and their health and social services system through the use of ICT.
  • To serve as an instrument that promotes collaboration between suppliers of health and social services, universities and research centres, companies associated with the areas of health and technology, UVic-UCC researchers and the TicSalut Foundation. At the same time, the aim is to promote collaboration between notable researchers and professionals at Spanish and international level, UVic-UCC researchers, TicSalut Foundation staff, and other professionals in the health and social sector.
