Verdaguer Chair in Literary Studies

Mission

The Verdaguer Chair in Literary Studies (CVEL) conducts research on contemporary literature, and is therefore also involved in outreach and dissemination. Its mission is to study and foster interest in literature in general, and Catalan literature in particular. All aspects of literature and all genres form part of the Chair's field of action, with a special focus on Jacint Verdaguer and other authors from the Osona area of Catalonia, including notable figures such as Segimon Serrallonga, Miquel Martí i Pol, Emili Teixidor and M. Àngels Anglada.

The Societat Verdaguer and the Verdaguer Chair in Literary Studies keep collections of books and organise talks and other activities (including seminars and symposiums, tributes to writers, and dissemination of texts) in Vic and Osona, as well as in Barcelona and other locations, in collaboration with other institutions and universities.
