UVic-UCC takes part in an event in Belgium as part of the European Universities project

UVic-UCC participated last week in the first face-to-face meeting of the seven universities that have been working on the application for the project entitled UP University - Shaping the New World of Work, Study & Living, which aims to create links between European regional ecosystems with the establishment of a strong strategic partnership for collaboration in education and research.

The institutional ceremony, presided by the Catalan Minister of Research and Universities Gemma Geis and part of the events celebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary of the unanimous approval of the Law recognising the University of Vic by the Parliament of Catalonia on 21 May 1997, took place at midday in the Aula Magna of the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC).

UVic-UCC retains its position in THE Impact Ranking

UVic-UCC has retained the position it achieved for the first time last year in the Impact Ranking 2022 produced by Times Higher Education (THE). According to yesterday afternoon's announcement, the University is once again in the group ranked 401-600 out of 1,001, which means that it has retained its position in the middle of the table, in 33rd place out of 41 universities in Spain, and sixth out of eight in Catalonia.

Artevelde University of Applied Sciences visits UVic-UCC as part of the European Universities initiative

This week the UVic-UCC has played host to a delegation from the management team of the Artevelde University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) in Belgium, led by its rector. The delegation from the Artevelde had the opportunity to hold meetings with their counterparts from UVic-UCC, and to visit the Vic Campus facilities and the city.

UVic-UCC celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary while focusing on the consolidation and expansion of its university project

The twenty-fifth anniversary of the Parliament of Catalonia's unanimous approval the Law recognizing the University of Vic by the 112 members of the Chamber falls on 21 May. The historic session which took place in 1997 led to the re-establishment of the university that the city had lost in 1717 with the New Plant decree enacted by the Spanish king Philip V.

The Faculty of Health and Welfare signs an internship mobility agreement with a hospital in Gambia

UVic-UCC signed an agreement with the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Gambia this March, through the Faculty of Health and Welfare Sciences of the Vic campus and UManresa. Under the terms of the agreement, and starting in the 2022-2023 academic year, three students on the EHEA degree course in Nursing and three on the EHEA degree course in Physiotherapy will be able to do the final internship of their degree course in the hospital, which has 600 beds and is the largest in Gambia.

Sergio Ponsá, the director of the CT BETA, defends research and innovation to address the challenges facing the Mediterranean region at COP27

The BETA Technology Center of the University of Vic Central University of Catalonia played a major role at the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), which took place in Sharm El-Sheikh (Egypt) from 6 to 18 November. The director of the CT BETA, Sergio Ponsá, represented the centre in three sessions in which he participated as a speaker, as part of the programme of activities that took place in the Mediterranean Pavilion.

UVic-UCC increases the number of students enrolled by 7% in 2022-2023 and increases by 42% in five years

The University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC) has this year surpassed the threshold of 11,000 students on official degree programmes for the first time, and in specific terms, has 11,588 students enrolled, 7% more in than the previous year. New entrance registrations for official UVic-UCC degrees for 2022-2023 ended with 3,866 students, a figure that is a 3% increase compared to the previous year.
