English Summer School

Presentation

The University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia offers a four-week English summer programme in the main campus (Vic).

The objective of this programme is to help participants improve their English proficiency, ensuring their successful adaptation in an international environment.

It consists of an intensive language training throughout 80 teching hours and classes follow an interactive methodology. Additionally, it offers the opportunity to be immersed in the local culture through cultural as well as company visits in the engineering and business sectors.

Aimed at

This programme is addressed at undergraduate students from Pôle Universitaire Léonard de Vinci (EMLV and ESILV) who are seeking to participate in UVic-UCC's Study Abroad programmes.

MODULES

MODULE 1 – English Grammar

Consolidate and put into practice known grammar as well as learning new structures
Use new grammar to express one’s own ideas

MODULE 2 – English Vocabulary

Expand topic-based lexical areas
Increase the range and variety of vocabulary
Put into practice new vocabulary

MODULE 3 – Pronunciation

”Fine Tuning” of pronunciation of difficult sounds
Continue to develop their instinct for rules and patterns
Use appropriate rhythm and intonation

MODULE 4 – Speaking

Exchange opinions by means of up-todate topics
Learn key words and phrases necessary to discuss a topic
Practice in more extended speaking
Improve in accuracy as well as develop one’s fluency.

MODULE 5 – Listening

Boost one’s listening skills with authentic speech, colloquial language and a wide variety of accents
Practice by means of achievable tasks with an increasing level of challenge
